The beginning of Winterholme Shih Tzu came from Wenrick Shih Tzu with the co-ownership of "Mazie", a wonderful bitch in and out of the show ring. Mazie quickly finished her Canadian Championship defeating BIS Specials along the way. She then spent time in the States with handler Pat Martello who not only completed her American Championship but also handled Mazie to a Best in Specialty win at the Puritan Shih Tzu Fanciers Specialty in December 2000 under well-known breeder/judge Gilbert Kahn. Not to be outdone once out of the ring, Mazie has passed on her winning ways to her offspring. In just two litters, Mazie has produced:
